On Mother's Day (Sunday, May 13) we honour and celebrate our mothers and all mothers around the world.

Thank you to Mrs. Skillen and Mrs. Ellis who arranged an amazing Mother’s Day Tea Party for all the Moms in grade 1/2 and 2/3. The students worked very hard making cards, candle holders and place mats for their Moms. The students presented words of gratitude and love for their mothers. It was enjoyed by all!!

St. Mary’s ‘Wendy’s Fundraising Get Together’ on the evening of May 1 was a tremendous success! wendy

Many families gathered to eat, laugh and enjoy each other’s company! Thank you to our Parent Council for organizing such a delicious event! Everyone's feedback from the evening was very positive and supportive!

Mr. Shannon & Wendy certainly sweetened the occasion with free Frosties!!

Thank you also to Wendy’s Restaurant for giving our school the opportunity to earn back 10% of the total sales from this event.

Wendy’s initiatives are committed to offering products that balance quality ingredients, fresh preparation and customers’ nutritional needs. Registered Dieticians provide useful information related to Nutrition & Health.
Ontario is in arbour

the midst of its extended Arbour Week. Given Ontario’s climatic and geographic diversity, Arbour “Week” begins on the last Friday of April and runs until Mother’s Day. hydro

Hydro One forestry professionals visited St. Mary’s School on Tuesday, May 1st, to teach the students in Mrs. Schelling’s grade 3 class and Mrs. Ellis’ grade 2/3 class about trees and the environment. The role of Hydro One is to teach the importance of trees for wildlife and the environment and the dangers of trees growing into the power lines. The presentation ended with planting a tree on our school property!

STUDENT SAFETY

The amount of school traffic during drop off and pick up times, combined with possible exposure to dangerous driver behaviour can put children at risk. St. Mary’s School is designated as a ‘walking school’, stipulating children walk to and from school. Many parents choose to drive their child, however, encouraging students to be active by walking to school is better for their health and better for the environment. The reduction in cars in the school parking lot reduces the risk of accidents and children will be easier to see. Read more>
